Old Bayley Lane is also located next door to Old County Court and is a quaint restaurant overlooking Coventry Cathedral. All of the meals are freshly prepared using fresh ingredients and you can enjoy a range of options from a burger stacked high to a trio of meats on Sunday. Right next to Old County Court down Pepper Lane there is also Pizza Express and PlayWrights. Playwrights is an intimate restaurant with good hearty comfort food.  
There is also a complex of great restaurants near Old County Court including The Cosy Club where you can pop to for a great brunch with a cheeky mimosa or have a lazy Sunday afternoon having a drink and playing board games. You can also check out Wagamama, Las Iguanas, MOD Pizza and the Botanist. 
Near the Belgrade Serviced Apartments, there is also a range of restaurants and bars within the complex including Bella Italia, Pizza Express and the Town Wall Tavern. Things to look forward to in Coventry in 2020

2021 is the year Coventry gears up for being City of Culture and there are a whole host of events going to be happening! Yet, there’s so much happening this year too, so we’ll get you excited by telling you what’s on offer in the city this year too!

Theatre

The highly acclaimed West End Show Six is coming to the Belgrade Theatre from June 2nd - Sunday 7th June. The Belgrade Theatre has seen some top shows coming to the city. Why not treat yourself to a show and overnight stay at the Belgrade Plaza. There’s no need to traipse all the way to London to see a good show!

Music

The Godiva Festival makes its return this year on 3rd-5th July and is going to be a weekend jam packed full of music, entertainment, comedy tents, food stalls and attractions.  That’s not the only music event to take place at the War Memorial Park this year as there’s an 80’s and 90’s club classics event taking place on the 5th September.  There are also some big name acts coming soon to Coventry including The Killers coming to the Ricoh arena on 11th June.

Sport

MotoFest Coventry on the 6th-7th June 2020 will be a two day event of motoring madness and is completely free!  The Coventry Half Marathon starts on 5th April 2020 from 8.30am. Thousands of runners will take to the city’s streets and run through historic landmarks, leafy country lanes and through the cobbled streets of Coventry. 

Food and Drink

Coventry Beer festival is coming to the Butts Park Arena from Friday 1st May - Sat 2nd May. You can also indulge in some tasty food at the Coombe Abbey Food Festival on 14th June too. If you fancy some gin and trying a few tasty tipples, then come along to the Independent Gin Festival on Friday 20th March - Saturday 21st March.

Things to do in Coventry and Warwickshire with Children this Summer

The summer holidays are upon us and finding things to do over the summer holidays can be a bit of a challenge. Keeping children occupied for weeks on end isn’t easy but there are plenty of things to do in Coventry and Warwickshire this summer to keep children happy and healthy.

Summer Camps
Sky Blues in the Community have football camps all throughout the summer holidays and the camps are open to boys and girls aged 5-12 years old. The camps are designed for all children regardless of ability so they have some fun and stay active. Check out their website here.
The Wave
A colossal water park right in the heart of Coventry City Centre, features the UK’s biggest wave pool, lazy river, along with six high-octane slides for the daredevils out there. There’s also a spa on-site so you if you feel like having some rest and relaxation for yourself, or to treat yourself to a facial, massage or spa experience, there’s plenty of opportunities for this.
Go Ape Coventry
Recently opened at Coombe Abbey Country Park amongst 500 acres of woodland, stunning gardens and a lake. There’s a 12 metre vertical drop, a zip line, treetop challenges, adventures and thrill seeking challenges.
Jam Jam Boomerang
If it’s a rainy day, jam jam Boomerang is the perfect place to take children. It’s a fun adventure filled indoor play area complete with bridges, rollers, slides, laser tag and a football area.
Twycross Zoo
Twycross Zoo is a full day out for all the family. There’s over 500 animals including giraffes, penguins, meerkats, flamingos, elephants, monkeys and so much more. There’s also a range of talks that go on throughout the day. You can pack up a picnic and spend the whole day there. Children under 2 years of age go free and children are just £10.
Walks
    There’s some lovely places to take a stroll to get the little ones out and about. Brandon Marsh nature reserve features acres of woodlands, pools, bird hides, wild flowers, meadows and you as you walk around the reserve you can spot a variety of rare birds.     Ryton Pools is a scenic place to go for a walk or bike ride with plenty of trails and paths to go down to discover lakes, look out hides and hills. You can hire out bicycles, karts, buggies, tandems, choppers and go off and have a day out taking in the fresh air and countryside views.

Old County Court is situated next to the Slug and Lettuce opposite the cathedral ruins and is on the site of Coventry’s old courthouse and jail which opened in 1783. The Cathedral is a great place to visit to discover more about the history and culture of Coventry and its efforts in the war. Take a stroll around the cathedral ruins and understand more about what happened the night of the blitz in Coventry.
The Lady Godiva Statue is situated just a minutes’ walk from Old County Court. Discover more about the story of Lady Godiva and pop along and see the monument standing proudly in Coventry City Centre.
There’s some great music events in Coventry. We have some big name acts on at the Ricoh Arena including the Spice Girls which is perfectly located just off the M6 so it’s easy to drive there and it has its very own railway station too.
We also have a free festival - Godiva festival at Memorial Park in Coventry. It’s the Midlands biggest free festival and it spans over 3 days from Friday to Sunday. Friday is old-school 80’s, Saturday there are comedy tents, food tents, stalls and the headline act comes on later in the evening. There have been acts from Kate Nash to Ronan Keating and Coventry’s very own The Specials and The Enemy.
You don’t need to traipse to London to discover a west end show. The Belgrade Theatre has a range of shows this year including The Girl on the Train. The Belgrade Theatre is located next door to Belgrade Plaza with a range of restaurants and bars. Pop down to one of the many restaurants under the Belgrade Plaza or have a home cooked meal at The Town Wall Tavern and catch a show afterwards. Actors and actresses pop along to the pub after a show so it’s a great place to hang out and celebrity spot.
